- 2008-04-25 Entries added to the model railroad software page
The collection of Mac model railroad software links has been updated.
- 2008-03-10 Updated 0 gauge railsets
A brand new Atlas 0 Industrial Rail library as well as several updated Atlas 0 gauge libraries and an updated Lionel FasTrack library are now available in the download section.
- 2008-02-10 New and updated libraries
Once again a bunch of updated libraries is available for download, including a new Peco H0 Code 83 railset and several new Digital libraries. In addition an updated Atlas N Code 55 railset adds some missing turnouts.
- 2008-02-02 Hotfix for Mac OS 9 Users
This is just for those of you still running Mac OS 9: An issue has been fixed that prevented version 3.0.5 running on Classic from finding the license key of our faithful registered users. The problem is now fixed in RailModeller 3.0.5 Hotfix 1.
- Create model railroad layouts on your Mac
Design model railroad or slot car layouts of up to 1000m x 1000m (or 3280ft x 3280ft).
- Build trackplans via Drag and Drop
Choose elements from the numerous supplied libraries, drop them on the trackplan or click to directly append them to elements in your trackplan.
Bend flextracks to any arbitrary shape, add buildings, flora and accessories.
- Build in any scale
All common modelscales are supported: from Z ("Miniclub") to IIm/G ("LGB", "Aristocraft").
Arbitrary scales can be combined in any layout.
- Print in any scale
Layouts can be printed in arbitrary sizes starting from a single sheet of paper up to 1:1 scale to provide a draft for your building your model railroad empire.
- Many libraries supplied
Start right away using the more than 180 supplied libraries. The track systems of almost every manufacturer are already included in the distribution.
Additional libaries include accessories like signals, houses, trees, electric components and other symbols for your layouts.
A comprehensive collection of components for all major digital system is included as well. The number of available libraries is constantly growing.
All libraries can be edited by the user with the Railset Editor.
- Railset Editor to create your own libraries
A powerful, graphical Editor is included in the distribution to create your own or modify and customize the libraries included in the distribution.
Complex custom shapes can be designed in 3rd party tools and imported to libraries using the SVG standard for vector graphics.
- 3D View of Layouts
View your layout in 3D and get an even better impression of what the real thing will look.
No extra work is needed, the 3D View is generated automatically for you with a single mouselick.
- Extensive editing facilities
Groups of elements can be created, several selection mechanisms provide fast ways of selecting similar elements, similar colored elements, elements by a particular vendor...
An integrated ruler-tool provides exact measurements for your virtual layout.
With few mouse-clicks whole segments can be duplicated and arranged to create complex figures with very little work.
Single elements can be transferred via the clipboard to the Railset Editor to customize them on-the-fly for your particular needs.
- Export Layouts as Image Files
Layouts can be exported as PSD, PNG, JPEG or TIFF pictures.
- Partlists
A partlist is automatically maintained by RailModeller for your layout providing an overview of the tracks used and the overall costs.
Prices can be edited in the partlist on-the-fly.
- Stock Management
Keep track of your inventory of tracks: The number of tracks used from your stock can be monitored currently and dedicated partlists can be created to list only
these elements for your shopping list that are not yet part of your stock.
Create layouts using just the tracks you have in that box in your cellar without purchasing any additional piece of track!
- Localized
The RailModeller and Railset Editor applications are localized. Currently english and german locales are available.
Other localizations will be added if there is sufficient request for a particular language.
- Extensive Manual
An extensive 80 page PDF manual is included in the distribution. A printed manual can optionally be purchased together with your RailModeller license or as a separate order.

Additional Railsets
These additional and updated libraries are not yet included in the distribution. Uncompress the downloaded files and copy the new railsets to the appropriate subdirectories of the Railsets folder. (If RailModeller is currently running it needs to be restarted to recognize new libraries)
